I think that there should be a shoutbox/chat at the top of the page. This would allow us all to talk some more and get to know each other. I know that I would definitely use it.

Yep, I think the shoutbox is a good idea. It might make the page a bit cramped though... perhaps on its own page?

Yeah, it probably would be better on its own page. But it would be neat if the window could blink when a new shout was made, kinda like MSN and AIM.

But if it gets included on the actual forums page, then it should definitely have a Hide option so that like other people said, to make sure that the loading time wouldn't be really long for those that wouldn't use it.

Shoutboxes can make a busy site look slow if no one uses it, especially if you put it on a separate page.

It will be better on the bottom of the page, they will be made busy I think, they are a good way of getting an answer answered quickly, its should be added.

Well, the basic thing with this is that i have never seen more than 15 members (excluding the guests who visit the site) at a time logged into the forums. Now out of those 15 members how many will actually use the shoutbox??

Secondly i am thinking of installing the shoutbox once the new template is incorporated, which is taking more than expected amount of time.
