Shoutbox/Chat

Post by Flipper3 »

I think that there should be a shoutbox/chat at the top of the page. This would allow us all to talk some more and get to know each other. I know that I would definitely use it. ;)

Yep, I think the shoutbox is a good idea. It might make the page a bit cramped though... perhaps on its own page?

Shoutbox is a very good idea & yes it would look better on a page of its own.

Shout box is a good addtition to the website, but it will increase the page loading time and make the site look cramped. It will look better in its own page.

It is for SHAdmin to decide on this matter.

Yeah, it probably would be better on its own page. But it would be neat if the window could blink when a new shout was made, kinda like MSN and AIM. ;)

But if it gets included on the actual forums page, then it should definitely have a Hide option so that like other people said, to make sure that the loading time wouldn't be really long for those that wouldn't use it. :)

Shoutboxes can make a busy site look slow if no one uses it, especially if you put it on a separate page.

Well, the basic thing with this is that i have never seen more than 15 members (excluding the guests who visit the site) at a time logged into the forums. Now out of those 15 members how many will actually use the shoutbox??

Secondly i am thinking of installing the shoutbox once the new template is incorporated, which is taking more than expected amount of time.
