I think i already answered this, but here goes... IPB was good while it was free. What Invision did was stupid. vBulletin is the feature packed and one of the best php forums available, if not the best. Its paid though.

The free forums (and more common), phpBB and SMF are not bad too, but between these 2 I prefer SMF.

I like phpBB best of the free ones, IPB is actually more advanced, and better if you know CSS and such(wich I dont know too well:)
But Im considering creating my own BB system, to get the options I want there.
