What is the best digital imaging software to use!?

Is it Photoshop, Macromedia Flash MX, Illustrator or other? if other can you please state what!? I want to know which one can help me do special affects to my pictures and add them to my website?! also what software can I use to create my website using HTML other than Microsoft Frontpage

I voted Photoshop cause thats the best I know.

I use Macromadia Flash for my job(not accutally a job) in making games/movies.

I like the gimp because its freeware. I haven't got photoshop and don't want to pay for it, neither do I want to download it illegally.

Steep learning curve but extrememly powerful, I like the gimp.
