Content Based Points.

Maybe you could find / make a mod that will award extra points to good, informative posts. Maybe not a mod that reads the posts, but if a mod reads a post that they belive is very high quality and informative they would be award bonus points. Where a person who just posts "My names Steve!" in a thread called "I think I have a virus", only gets the lowest amount of points, and some one who supplies a nice line of code to fix a bug in some ones code would get more.

The idea is simple, the mod may not be. I'd be intrested in helping, as I am trying to learn PHP.

Sounds like a good idea, but I think that adding a mod would be too tricky to program. How would a porgram be able to tell how informative a post is.

I think that if this would be implemented probably it would have to be the moderators who would do it, and this would take up too much time - especially as they already don't have much time as it is. There is another post somewhere in this suggestions board to that effect (can't remember offhand where it is).

Thats my plan, but I was talking to SHadmin about giving points as a prize for the SOTW so he already has the power to hand out points, he just needs more moderators to supervise and award bonus points.

This is a rather hard and tricky precedure since Mods do not actually manipulate points. Points are awarded per post, not length. If you could find a mod that could do something like this then it would be very helpful but other than that I do not see this Suggestion coming to life.

Mod's are handpicked and usually very rarely we find people who would make good moderators. In my case I am not able to check every post that is made in the forums I am covering but I do however manage the grunt work in the forums. I keep these posts moderated and kept since there isn't alot all at once. If there is a way to make this happen and we could get some really good strengths to this suggestion then we could do this but as far as right now, there isn't any way we can.

I am sorry but if you could provide more information and reasons to do this I will go over it, I have been known to change my mind before.

If you put one mod over each seperate section, I'm sure it would not be too difficult, but I do understand what you mean.

Well anyway, I understand what he might be saying. Like a post that is 5 lines of text would get 1 point, but 2 lines of text would get .5 points. I don't think that this is such a good idea.

I love the idea it's just not possible under these conditions we are actually unable to moderate points or delete posts for some glitches in our cash mod. We are working on a fix for this that is another reason why we do not have alot of mods. Once this bug gets fixed we will be able to moderate properly like we are suppose to. Lmao, it is funny everyone loves to fear me .. Don't fear me I am as kool as the next guy but I do take this site seriously so anything against it I take to heart :P.
