latest Idea for the site to increase posting and activity on the forums.
Its really a simple change.
I suggest that certain forums require a certain post count to view.
because i have noticed the past couple days that user come and just
browse the forum to keep activity.
So a break down like this would work(not specific to this site)
main--
-news
-updates
-chat
-introductions
Chat
-General discussion
-comments
-suggestions
All requires 0 post count to be seen and posted/reply
web master forum
-php
-mysql
-cgi
-ect
-web master talk
requires 20 to be seen and 20 to post/reply
so there is a simple little forum just to explain what im talking about.
This i think will benefit in alto of ways.
it will prevent users from just browsing the forum to get activity and will
force you to post and get activity that way.
Please let me know your thoughts.

Good idea, but there is one problem...
What if someone arrives at the respective threads due to some search engine results and all they want is go through that thread and return later to actually get impressed and join the forum? We will be loosing these more needed members than the ones whom you'll force to post just so they need to see a thread. This might just result into spamming 10 posts, seeing that thread and then dissapearing!

Agreed.
I mean you can see the forum and all topics and sticky/announcements but cannot access user posted topics and be redirected to a message stating that this topic/forum require a post count. this can be from 1-100 depending on what you
wish to have.
Basically Im looking to just get new users to post and possibly get active on the forum. because everyone likes to see what people think of their post.
any ways I wasn't looking to make the forum private but find a middle ground to prevent bots and attempt to get users active in posting not just browsing.

I get what you mean... However i feel to implement such an idea, we'll first need to get some such useful and unique posts on the forums and even get them indexed in the search engines before i go forwrad with this idea to make a success

Sounds good.
Guess It would be a great idea if you have a super active forum.
Thanks for the input.
