Website Logo & Titles

Hey Guys,
I wanted to get an idea of how everyone else makes their banners and titles, any kind of logos.
For the time being i've been using paint.net, writing out text in different fonts and adjusting the background colors and textures to match the mood I'm going for.
Is everyone pretty much using photoshop, or are there other alternatives for making a good logo or banner?

I find adobe illustrator is better for making logos etc than Photoshop.
I also like GIMP. Gimp does anything photoshop does and it's free opensource. Also lots of support out there for using GIMP.

I often use Fiverr or other places where one can just pay a nominal fee to get what they need, time is money and if graphics aren't your thing sometimes it can be better just to have somebody else do it. Another way to accomplish that is with a joint venture where you just offer a share or some special access to your site for the help.
