You register a copyright through the government.. most people who put the stuff on the bottom of thier site doesn't have it copywritten.. and just puts it there to warn of people.. usually you can't get a copyright for a site unless your selling something and your site was built by hand through an accredited web designer. Which would have all his work copywritten so no one could steal his work. Information in the internet itself cannot be copywritten nor can a design that has been mass marketed for free sharing. So before you go and get a copyright ask yourself will the Register People look at you like your retarded.

Well TheCrymsonLegends, if i am not wrong, out there i think you are mixing up two different things. One being "copyright" and the other being "trademark". Anybody can just go ahead and put their copyright on the content that is genuinely theirs from the scratch i.e. not even a patch of it should not be scripted or designed by somebody else unless and untill he is not an employee with your company. However if you want to register your trademark, then you need to get it registered from a governing athourity. Also one must take care that the trademarks also come in few different limitations, some being just local while some are intrenational.

Well SHAdmin, if I am not mistaken if you have no proof that something is Copywritten by you then anyone can steal your design. Trademarks would be for Slogans and certain designs in Advertizing or a Color Skeam for your Product. Copyrights are simular to Pattens which indicate from the Governing Authority that you own the Copyright and anyone therefore stealing anything of yours that is Copyrighted you can take Legal Action against them.
Example: Metallica Vs. Napster - Napster lost the the LawSuit against them from Metallica because Metallica proved a way that Napster broke the Copyright Laws by freely distributing music. If Metallica had just thrown a Copyright on thier work without geting it registered then they would of lost the LawSuit.
For Example again: A Trademark is like Gateway's Cow Logo, or Batman's Chest Logo. Yes you have to register them aswell, but if you don't have a Registered Copyright on your work then anyone can use it. Yes most people just throw a ? on thier work and claim they got a Copyright on it, but most the time they don't.
