I have Intel Core Duo in my MacBook and only 512mb RAM. It's still really fast. One problem is that it gets quite hot and the fan keeps coming on.

If the duo are getting so hot like people saying so wouldnt quads get more hot than duo? I heard that there are new fans with hydrogen or something like that...

Core 2 Duos are completely new chips. They aren't some improved old chipset. Thus they made it very energy and power efficient. That translates to less heat too. But still if you;re running a workstation computer or something like that. A good hest sink and good airflow would be a good option.
