new pc need help

Hi i got a new pc like 4 days form now and its has 256MB DDR 2 and 80 GB HHD and things like that in it but i do not know why i did not get no cds in it for backup but oh well so right say if i have a 1GB DDR 1 can i use that in a pc for DDR 2 or not i do not know if i shoulf try it or not so i need help on it and now can i put my oter HHD in as a secondy drive i have one that is 40GB one so yes and if you can help me that will be good so i can get my pc cool and good and is a AMD processor good?
