I used to use Norton 2004 but it was extremely heavy on my computer. Then chcanged to avast but then when i upgraded to Windows XP service pack 1 then i think some file got corrupted or something and since then even avast became a burden on the comp. Then finally i changed to the AVG home edition, which is extremely easy on the computer and very effective. Proving ot be quite good atleast for me.

ok... all that u need is on this site
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
really good scanning site that uses about 10 scanners
its for individual scanning of files
for your whole system, i recommend norton antivirus. i also have spybot to catch the files norton misses (which is ALOT). and frequently use sucurity task manager to see if unwanted processes are running (theres usually ALOT). these are the main 3 that i use to protect my computer from... unwanted things =]
