To know only MySQL it is not enough, you have to combine mysql with some kind of other programming language (i'm suggesting PHP) Here is tutorial how to combine PHP together with MySQL: http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/phpmysql

Yes but they are also very very basic tutorials so lots of people look at them and only see the basics but want the details to do exactly what they want and are to lazy to figure it out themselves.

MySQL is fun. Useful and fast. I recommend just spending time with cPanel and PHPAdmin and play around with it. It will come naturally or so I believe. Mess around with the features, and go to the official websites for the uses of the keys.
