What would be the best web authoring software?

What do you think would be the best web authoring software available at the moment?

NVU is a very good one, but I don't like it that much. I don't know anything better offhand unfortuantely. I don't like HTML (Website) authoring programs very much as they add a lot of uneccesary code, and sometimes the result is bad that it doesn't even display properly.

would macromedia dreamweaver be a web authoring tool? if so then thats probably a good one to go with

Yes, dreamweaver is a web authoring tool. That would be my coice as well, since I am familiar with macromedia programs and Dreamweaver offers lots of features (although it costs a fair bit).
