How to make Apache not show directory listings ?

If i dont have a index.* in a directory my apache server (test at hhome

) list the directory content and i dont want this. How can i prevent it ? Thanks

why would you want to do that?
if you have very secret info/file you better password protect the directory
cos preventing from listing files does not prevent from downloading

youre right, i will prevent the downloads
sometimes i dont want users to accidentaly acces parts of my site

sometimes developers whants to hide directory content (there is no need to password protect, just hide)
For example me, i'm creating CMS and i'm hidding some folders for security reasons (less possibilities to crack down my cms)

I guess he is doing it just for security, for privacy
