ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

Good question. Every generation tends to like the music they hear in high school. These days a lot of the music is so horrible, they start to think the old is better.

I would agree, while many of the classic rock hits are 'just pop garbage', still the music had some quality and meaning (especially if you look for that). Your list is really good, also try:

-Kansas: First album!!! and up through 'Leftoverture' (not after). They were unique and incredible.
-Jethro Tull: Quality 'Hard rock' with a flute (and a 'friendly crazy' lead singer).
-Rush: Loud music with 'brains'. Great guitar and some of the best drums and lyrics ever.
-Very old Genesis 1972-1979 (forget the later crap)
-Deep Purple Live 'Made In Japan'
-The song 'America' by Steppenwolf: You might think they had a 'time machine', and returned from todays ugly mess.

-For something happier, you may never find this, but if you do, grab some headphones!

"Pretty darn nice live work from Brian Auger -- better than most of his studio sides from the period, especially in that the record features some very long tracks with a real focus on instrumentation! And sure, there's a bit of singing on a few tracks, but there's really nice instrumental jamming on "Bumpin On Sunset" and "Don't Look Away" -- both of which have some great work on organ!"

i don't know if you get VH1 TV, cause they have a classic rock night every couple of days, man i never miss it, and i tape all the songs, to replay them on my way to school

I am a 33 yr old Classic Rock nut. I love Janis, Jimi, Jim Morrison, Led Zepplin, Cream, etc. I think the reason why I listen to music that was recorded before I was born, is because of the simple fact that it was great music! Not to mention, I am not that impressed with today's music (except for a few bands), and the recording industry's efforts to get rich quick off of copycat artists. There is very little original artists out there, and classic rock artists were the trendsetters and originators of rock.

Well.. I know how you feel. I'm 16 and actually. I don't know a lot of people who like Classic Rock around me.. and the few I do know are just wearing the merchandise to look cool, and that's not really the way to be. I listen to a lot of Alice Cooper, Jim Croce, and Queen.

I like a lot of 80's metal myself also like, Iron Maiden, Dio, Megadeth and such.

There are (i've noticed) a couple new bands that are trying to pick up classic rock.. but I don't think it's the same if it's not really.. classic in age also.
