Good tutorial, I'll try it out soon.
I like the end result too, which isn't always the case with Photoshop tutorials (Unfortuanately, I'm usually half way through them before I realise

1) i dont know because you havnt provided details
2) select the layer you want to edit, and **** layer>Blending options
