Whats the best PHP discussion board?

Post by Virtual »

I wanna make this poll to see what is the best and most used discussion board script.
Please post a reason why you like that one.
phpBB is the most used by my opinion and is pretty good but vbulletin ipb is better i guess.

As for my opinion, i love PHPBB. The reason being:
>>It is open source
>>It is free
>>It has almost as many features as any other paid forum script like ipb and vbulletin
>>Ready enhancements, plugins, templates are available at the phpbb site itself and are free and easy to install.
>>You can request them if you want any special feature in your forums at their community, and they will code it for you free of cost!!

and the list goes on.... :!:

I used to like IVB, but now that its pay, I don't like it anymore. I do like phpbb2 but to make it a really good forum, it needs a lot of addons and a skin. I get sick of the same phpbb2-looking forums almost everywhere. The good thing is, they are eaisly available.

I've tried to use SMF and found it seems to be rather large and laggy at times. When setting the board up, it would just stop responding and start spitting error codes at me. I have to go with PHPBB since it seems to be a little more user friendly.

http://lixas.thesmokylounge.com/ist-04/diskusijos.php but it is in lithuanian, and you wont be able to post, only registered classmates are available to post new posts. I will tell about my forum structure:
post's authors have availability to edit post, and if user edit it, there will be message that post have been edited.
user are available to quote posts
Admins can edit edit all posts, and if admin edit post, there will be message that admin edited thet post.
Admins can delete separate posts, but later I will do that admins will be able to delete all subtopic, like here "what is the best board" or smth like that
mhmm, thats all about my home-made forum :) Please evaluate my discusion board :!:

phpbb is very popular. but IPB is cool.
many people use phpbb because it's free
so I think that if I get IPB then i'll use IPB, but if I won't I would use any free script.
