Okay after having a play with a few forum software's i would like to ask others there thoughts.
Whats the best in your eyes?
I've used a friends Vbulletin 3.x and thought it very good as their is ALLOT of options in the admin cp for setting's and such. user's, theme's, gen options etc. Themes cost a bit tho @ $30+ each
I've tried out MyBB that is a free pice of software but has quite a few bugs in it. But still quite good. BIG lack of theme's tho BIG lack.
I've tried PHPBB but didnt like the lack of options in the admincp etc, but there is ALLOT of nice theme's like this one on this site.
Anyone else recomend somthing?

For me the first ever choice is phpbb. It is the best one in the industry. If you include all the mods/hacks of phpbb that exist, there is no competition for it till far far away. There is no feature that you wont find in phpbb. And i have also tried the yet to release phpbb olympus (the next major version of phpbb) and that gives you all the admin control that were missing till now.
The second i would like will be vbulletin
The third being IPB
Forth being SMF
Fifth being myUPB.

Thanks mate for the info
so the phpbb olympus version will have all the admin/options as VB and MyBB has rite now?
Also any idea's when the phpbb olympus will be released for download and will it still be FREE like the others are ?

Many of you will not have heard of it, but I rather like ProBoards. They offer free remotely hosted message boards. More details of their service can be found here:

They have some paid services, but the bulk of what they do is free. You can have unlimited numbers of posts/threads. They have recently brought out Version 4, which includes 150 new features!

proboards is so seriously bad. web based, ad supported, remotely hosted...

I rather like it because it is very easy to use. You can remove the ads through their paid services. For those who just want a community, and want one which is easy to use and user friendly, ProBoards is the answer.

well my favorite is vbulletin, but the only thing wrong with it, is that most of it's styles, makes it difficule to surf,it take alot of time to open, if your, using a dial-up modem,, phpbb is the fastest to surf in but it has alot of bugs, and can be easly hacked into, if those bugs aren't fixed, but there's the invasion boards same as the phpbb
