Bit torrent opens up tons of connections and can really bog down a cheaper router with all the active sessions. The bottleneck is usually in the uploading though, usually an ISP gives you very little uplink speed opposed to your download speed, so limiting your roommates download speed won't affect ...

I agree, the best thing to do is to invest in a quality router to make sure you're getting the best connection to the cable modem possible, especially if you're sharing the connection.

I don't like how much resources it can eat up, especially with extensions installed due to crappy extension development. I do like it and use it a lot, I wish the linux version was as robust as the windows version.

Yeah, COBOL was invented with the intent on making it look pretty to make it easier to sell to business owners. This worked, and is a reason it's still around, and a reason for the many flaws and annoyances it has.

I always tried to use forums in previous sites. I don't use them as much anymore because unless it is a website that has an interesting community, it really shows the inactivity or the indifference of a lot of hte visitors, and I don't blame them sometimes given the topics.

programming languages
I spend most of my time working with C++, Java and Python. In classes I've had to work with C#, ML, Prolog, Lisp, and a few others. I don't do much web programming but PHP would be the only one I have any experience in.
