java is functions...
you can build pages bu HTML, and just HTML..
Even when you use php, you cann't leane the HTML..

You can create your index with javascript , but you can add some functions to your index with java scripts..

Why make the homepage a javascript page? Why not make it .htm or .html and add javascripts to that?
