Or you could write your own forums with all the features you want that other free forums don't currently have live member activity monitors.

i've never tried to make my own forum but there's websites (such as bravenet.com) that give you free forums. id on't know how good they are...but i'm pretty sure you're going to have to know how to customize it yourself and stuff...it's not really easy stuff i'm sure of that

it's really hard to create a forum
if you really decide to create one then it should be better than
phpBB
if not then just use ready ones
it is difficult because you should consider security issues

hey man installing phpbb or any othre forum is very easy. DOn't get scared i'm a rookie myself. but i have done a pretty good job. you can check http://www.jasondsouza.co.nr/forum to verify whether my job installing froum was good. its actually really simple.
