i want to install linux along with windows operating systems i want to know the
basics of linux and what makes linux different from windows and the powers and
weaknesses of linux

Its a long story to tell what are the basics you have to learn them with time!! In short the powers of the linux is that its more reliable as compared to windows XP (due to less popularity less attraction of hackers) and secondly its famous for it server configuration with LAMP. You can do anything in Linux which you can do in Windows except gaming!! The games are specially designed for windows DirectX technology. You may however run some games through Cadega a commercial software but it not always compatible and reliable.
