i think you are telling different things that you keep in mind.
Java it is NOT Javascript, they are two different languages, so please remember for all times: there is java, and there is javascript and they are not the same.
I've never used ebooks to learn php or html, or js or whatever. I just doing what i can and then if i need something, google for that :) and as i allways expecting- i find it and implement to my job. But if you need books try to search in search engines or use P2P programms to find and download it

Arhhh by the way, refer to this site http://www.blueportal.org/ there is the best resource of various ebooks about IT and i think you will also find book about JS
