i use Notepad++

check it out, it edits basically any scripting/programmibg language.

Editing in notepad can drive me nuts. At least use something with word wrap. I like dreamweaver for it's faster launching speed then adobe golive. And the fact I can automate finding and replacing huge blocks of codes over thousands of lines.

I really good HTML editor if you're doing freehand work is EditPad Lite It's free and easy, much like notepad. If you're wanting to shell out US$50.00 then you can try EditPad Pro. I haven't tried it but i've heard it's pretty good.
