I think a $100 laptop could only be a toy for kids, maybe I will buy 1 for my sun, but I will never buy it for myself.

Due to disappointing volumes of advanced sales the $100 laptop is being offered at $200.. I read this news flash recently. Oh and you have to order 10,000 at a time to get this price.. You may google '$100 laptop $200' to get the full story. This is not a joke.

I think that it would be a handy thing to have for school. Use it for messenger and word processing.

Actually, the $100 labtop is not meant for users. The whole motive behind it is that each kid can have a labtop.

The 'One Laptop Per Child' program came on television here in Australia recently, and they're not the only ones, Intel is also similiar laptops, but cheaper. They have Windows, and are powered by (obviously) Intel Processors, as opposed to the AMD in the 'One Laptop Per Child' program. If I was getting one, I'd choose Intel's.

i have read somewhere that microsoftis asking the project managers to have the laptop run windows instead of linux, witch is running at the moment without an actual hard drive. so switching to windows means a harddisk or a flash memory has to be installed witch will drive the price up
