If you have a Windows XP or Windows Vista, just open Windows Movie Maker. Make sure you don't have a microphone, camera, or web camera attached to your computer.
**** on the little Microphone icon. You will be brought to a screen that says "Narrate Timeline" adjust the audio to your liking.
I have my Input level at high, Audio Input Source at Stereo Mixer, and the Audio Device as my default.
No **** on "Start Narration" then play the audio you want to record, stop it when needed. Now edit it according your liking.
