Can we trust .edu sites?

Post by anish » Sun May 20, 2007 8:26 am

After reading a blog post somewhere I was surprised for the results got for term “buy ****” -- all top ranking sites were .edu
I think Google just seems to trust these .edu sites for anything..... lol

.Edu and .Gov sites are actually brilliant for getting high-quality and AUTHORITATIVE link backs for your blog or websites.

But "buy ****"? How EDUCATIONAL.. I remember only getting those from emails I don't even know how the heck he/she got my email address.

.edu and .gov sites that allow backlinking functionality are being used for "****" and similar spamming keywords nowadays.
Its just a matter of how long their effectiveness is gonna stay in the search ranking algorithms..

Most edu sites can be trusted, but I'd only use edu sites in a similar niche for link building. Any other links that get posted you cant control so don't worry about it.
