What's the best anti-virus software?

I currently use Norton, and I used to use Kaspersky. For Kaspersky, it always makes my PC very hot; for Norton, I can hardly feel its existance.
Which anti-virus software do you think is the best?

I've been using AVG for nearly a decade, it's free and gets the job done. Lately it's been starting to feel more like bloatware, though.

I use Avast home edition... One of the few free for home use antivirus programmes that support boot time scan
