anyone got more essential audio programs? i've been experimenting and testing different software lately. here is what i'm using:
Cool Edit Pro 2.0:
- great for my recording needs. this program allows u to easily see various tracks and how they mix together, with many useful options, easy to learn and use. has some good built-in effects to make ur tracks sound sweet.
FL Studio 6:
- previously known as fruity loops. simple yet great program to create ur beats with. basically u can plug any sound or sample into a channel and play on queue and like this using ur various sounds creates a beat. seems too simple at first but has many useful, almost professional options.
and finally,
Traktor DJ Studio 3:
- simulates ur dj gear for on-screen mixing. fun! a little more complicated to use than the previous program i used for this purpose (Virtual DJ) but it can be picked up pretty quick. it could have more effects, other than that its the way to go.
anyway.
peace.

Me and my freind want to start our own little recording studio for the local bands around here. We both are musicians and i have lots of expericne with live shows becuase my video production company also ptus on shows downtown for local bands but im new to recording any sugestiosn to hardware and software to use that wont cost thousands and thousands of dollars. I allready have bunch of mics and speakers instrument cables etc.
well i'm a bit more up-to-date on the music software than on the hardware... but i personally use Cool Edit Pro for my recording. also, if you can set it up properly its easy to set up various mics to record all at the same time with each mic recording into its own channel. its a decent program not too hard to use... i would give it a try. most of your trouble will come i believe through your mics i would think, in terms of equipment. i mean, if you have mics and they are good then no worries.. but you will need a different mic for the drummer and the singer.. u know.

wow
i wish i had that collection.... btw, to the other poster, i dont necesarily think that FL studio is best for what it does. i currently dont even own a personal computer, and have borrwowed my friends old laptop without much diskspace..
if i had no space worries i would go strainght from Reason. its the most amazingly complete noise creating sequencing software. but the basic installation is like 2 or 3 gbs. too much for this old poor pc.
