I would prefer Geforce, I've been using my GF2 32Mb card for a long time.
Watching movies, playing games, all works fine although I can't push it to highest quality, but it's acceptable (at least for the games that I play).

I used to have Radeon 9200 but switched to 9250 after it conked out. I never tried any nVidia cards before.

I would definately go with a GeForce, I have a GeForce 4Mx which is a pretty out of date graphics card and i get 60 fps on cs which isnt great but can handle source which requires alot graphics capabilities. I'd definately recomend you pick Nvidia.
