Wireless still has a long way to deal with collision detection problems though. Latency through wired-AP into switch is still a problem. But no one cares because transmitting speed is more important and cheaper than dealing with latency.

The only downside to wireless is the router. The one I have can boil water after being on for one hour!

I think one of each have a useful. Ex wireless use in cases you need move your pc to every that access to internet. Wired is useful in cases you don't need move, because it is constant

I have a 2wire router, it gets hot a times, but never to bad. I don't know the full details, but you buy it from AT&T and I can use my laptop wirelessly. I love AT&T even though must people don't.
