i'm going to have to make a student portal for my university intranet. i'm using joomla as my content management system, and with the community builder add-on for making the connectios thing work, what else could i add to make it a cool place for students?

My University uses a proxy server which blocks access to almost all ports besides http, ftp and very few others.
